Pit Beirer (born October 19, 1972 in Radolfzell am Bodensee ) is a former German motorcycle racing and motocross rider .

Career

Beirer drove his first race at Hügelheim at the age of ten . His professional career began in 1988. He celebrated his first GP victory in 1991 in Reil . From 1989 to 1994 he took part in the 125 cc class at the world championship . His greatest success was the fifth place in 1994. From 1995 he started in the 250 cc class. In 1997 and 1998 as well as in 2000 and 2002 he was third and in 1999 vice world champion. In 1991, 1992 and 2002 he won the German championship.

On June 8, 2003, Beirer had a serious fall at the GP in Sevlievo, Bulgaria, and suffered paraplegia at the level of the 6th thoracic vertebra.

Beirer works for KTM and heads the company's sports department.

Private

Beirer is married and has one daughter.
