Max Deubel (born February 5, 1935 in Mühlenau, district of Wiehl since 1967 ) is a former German motorcycle racer , four-time sidecar world champion and one of the most successful German motorcycle racers in the sidecar class . He worked for the ADAC , z. B. as race director at the Nürburgring and motorcycle advisor for the ADAC Gau Nordrhein, he was also vice-president of the FIM safety commission and chairman of the OMK .

The Isle of Man Post Office dedicated a stamp to Max Deubel in 1974. This makes him the only Oberberg [note: Oberbergischer Kreis ] who, after 1945, was immortalized on a postage stamp.

Career

Max Deubel began riding a motorcycle trailer in May 1955 with co-driver Horst Hoehler on a trailer from Walter Schneider . From 1961 Emil Hörner († 2003) was his co-driver until the end of his career.

After finishing his sports career from 1972 until his retirement in 1998, he was a representative at the Erzquell Brewery in Bielstein.

At the gala of the Masters of DMSB e. V. In 2016, Max Deubel was awarded the DMSB eV Cup for his life's work as an active trailer driver and the subsequent successful work in voluntary work.

For his sporting successes, he and his co-driver Emil Hörner were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on August 1, 1962.

During his time as a racing driver, Deubel opened the restaurant “Zum Schnell Max” and later the “Hotel Deubel” in Mühlenau, where he was born.
