Eugenio Lazzarini
Eugenio Lazzarini (born March 26, 1945 in Urbino ( PU )) is a former Italian motorcycle racer .
He is one of the most successful pilots of the 1970s and has won three world championship titles in the motorcycle world championship in his career .
In 2003 Eugenio Lazzarini was awarded the title Commendatore dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana by the then President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi .
Career
Eugenio Lazzarini's career in the motorcycle world championship started in the 1969 season , he took part in two 50 cc Grand Prix on Benelli and a 250 cc run on Morbidelli . In the following years he drove only a few races, mostly in the 125cc class.
1973 Lazzarini denied his first full season in the 125 cc class. At the Dutch TT in Assen he celebrated his first Grand Prix victory on Maico . In the overall ranking he reached fifth place with 59 points. In the following year the Italian started again only in two 125cc races.
In the 1975 season , Eugenio Lazzarini competed in both the 50 cc and 125 cc class on Piovaticci and was able to celebrate second place in the World Cup in the 50s with one win and six podiums; in the quarter liter class he was fifth.
In the following years, with the exception of the 1981 season , Lazzarini started in the 50 and 125 classes. In the 1978 season he was 125 cc world champion on MBA , in 1979 and 1980 he won the title in the 50 cc class on Kreidler and Kreidler- Van Veen .
From 1982 Lazzarini competed for Garelli and drove up to the end of his career in 1984 a further four vice world championships.
With 81 placings among the top three in 132 Grand Prix, Lazzarini managed to finish on the podium in more than 60% of the races in which he participated.
