Herreros' 1988 80cc Derbi

Manuel "Champi" Herreros (born April 20, 1963 in Villarrobledo ) is a former Spanish motorcycle racer . His greatest success is winning the 80 cm³ world championship in the 1989 season and thus became the "eternal world champion" of this class, as it was abolished after the 1989 season.

Career

Herreros contested a total of 62 races in the motorcycle world championship between 1984 and 1991 and won the title in the 80 cc class in 1989 without having won a race that season. Herreros won the 1980s class at the 1986 German GP and 1987 at the San Marino GP . His only podium place in the 125 cc class he achieved in 1988 at the Nations GP in Imola .
