Georg Helgerth

Georg Helgerth (* 1885 in Nuremberg ; † 1953 ibid) was a German wrestler .

Career

Georg Helgerth grew up in Nuremberg and began in his hometown, ASC "Sandow" 1892 Nuremberg with the rings . He developed into an excellent wrestler in Greco-Roman. Style. After he had already achieved some successes on a regional level, he started in 1909 for the first time at the German championship in Essen , which at that time was only held every three years. He presented himself in excellent shape and became German lightweight champion.

He then won at the international level some success and was 1909 in Dresden Vice European Champion and 1911 in Dresden even world champion at lightweight. Both championships have an unofficial character, like all world and European championships at that time, as there was no world or European wrestling association at that time.
