Bruno Kneubühler (born February 3, 1946 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss motorcycle racer .

Career

During his almost 20 year career in the motorcycle world championship , Bruno Kneubühler took part in the Grand Prix classes between 50 and 500 cm³. After he 1971 Swiss motorcycle road championship won in the 350-cc class he finished his first Grand Prix season in 1972 in the 500cc class in third place behind the dominating MV Agusta - factory team with drivers Giacomo Agostini and Alberto Pagani . In the same year, Kneubühler won the Spanish Grand Prix in Montjuïc in the class up to 350 cm³, ahead of Renzo Pasolini and János Drapál .

In 1973 he proved his driving versatility at the Spanish Grand Prix, where he took second place in the classes up to 50, up to 250 and up to 500 cm³. In the 1974 season he drove to second place in the Dutch TT in Assen in the 250 cc class and won the eight-liter race. Kneubühler had his best year in 1983 . At that time he won the Grand Prix of Yugoslavia and the Grand Prix of Sweden . In the world championship of the 125 cc class, he finished second behind Ángel Nieto . Kneubühler was three times vice world champion, 1973 in the class up to 50 cm³ on Kreidler , 1974 in the class up to 125 cm³ with Yamaha and in 1983 again in the 125 cm³ class on MBA . He won a total of five grand prix, was on the podium 33 times and on pole position five times .

Bruno Kneubühler retired from professional racing in 1989 at the age of 43. To this day he runs a car and motorcycle driving school in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . He also conducts motorcycle training courses for an insurance group and is a member of the Swiss Road Safety Council (VSR).
