Günter Beer (born November 21, 1926 in Frankfurt am Main ; † February 17, 2012 ) was a German motorcycle racer .

Career

Günter Beer finished sixth in 1954 on a 250 cm³ eagle at the Feldberg race , which at that time had a very strong international team. Nevertheless, nobody suspected that a future five-time German champion would celebrate his first success here. In 1958 Beer was ninth in the 250 cc class on an Adler World Cup with fourth places at the Swedish Grand Prix in Hedemora and at the Grand Prix of Nations in Monza . Between 1957 and 1966 , Beer finished fourth, fifth and sixth eleven times in World Championship races. Between 1962 and 1966 he won the German road championship in the 250 cc class five times . In 1964, in addition to the three victories mentioned below, he also achieved second place at the Nürburgring behind three-time world champion Luigi Taveri from Switzerland ( Honda ).

During the winter breaks, Günter Beer worked as a ski instructor in Zürs am Arlberg and was therefore always well-trained to start the new racing season.

After his motorcycle racing career, Günter Beer became managing director of the winter sports center in Sankt Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains . He operated four ski lifts and used modern bulldozers and snow cannons on Matthias-Schmidt-Berg, the 700 m high local mountain of St. Andreasberg.

Günter Beer died on February 17, 2012 as a result of a stroke.
