The 2005 Superbike World Championship season was the 18th in the history of the FIM - Superbike World Championship . 23 races were held at twelve events.
Distribution of points
The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

useful information
- In Qatar and San Marino the first and in Australia the second run were canceled, restarted later and the addition of the two parts counted.
- In Imola the second run was not started due to heavy rain.
