Marco Borciani (born December 7, 1975 in Desenzano del Garda ) is an Italian motorcycle racer .

Career

Borciani began his career in 1994 in the Italian Sports Production Championship. In 1996 he competed in the Trofeo Honda and the Italian 125 cc Sports Production Championship.

1997 Borciani made his debut on a Honda in the 125 cc European Championship . In the same year he contested his only Grand Prix race as a wildcard driver at the 125 Grand Prix of Italy , but did not see the checkered flag.

In 1999 , Marco Borciani then switched to the vertakters , who were more suited to his good physique than the small Grand Prix machines. He contested five races in the Supersport World Championship with Team Rumi on a Honda and scored one point.

In the 2000 season he made his debut on Ducati in the private team Pedercini in the Superbike World Championship . In 2002 he reached 15th place overall in the World Championship at Pedercini-Ducati.

For the 2003 season, Borciani switched to the DFX Racing Team , where he again started as the official test driver for Pirelli on a Ducati and finished tenth overall. He finished second in the Italian Superbike Championship that year. In 2004 Marco Borciani finished tenth in the DFX team at the Superbike World Championship and narrowly missed a podium finish twice with fourth place. In the Italian championship he was again second. The following year Borciani continued to start for the DFX team, which was called Sterilgarda DFXtreme this season . First the Yamaha YZF-R1 was used , but quickly returned to the tried and tested Ducati motorcycles. In the World Cup, he only finished 27th overall.

In 2006 Marco Borciani started for the newly put together and professionally organized team Sterilgarda Berik on a Ducati 999 F05 , the factory machine from the previous year. His teammate was the experienced Spaniard Rubén Xaus . Borciani took 19th place in the World Cup and won the Italian Superbike Championship for the first time in his career.

Since the 2007 season , Marco Borciani has been a team manager for Team Sterilgarda , in addition to his racing career . On the Ducati 999 F06 he contested six world championship races and was 20th overall. In the Italian championship he was again first. In 2008 Borciani finished sixth overall in the Italian championship.
