European motorcycle championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European motorcycle championship is the European championship for street motorcycles .

It was held from 1924 to 1939 and in 1947 and 1948. It was revived in 1981 and has been going on continuously ever since. European championship titles are awarded in several classes, which are defined by displacement, number of cylinders, mode of operation and weight.

Today the European Championship, along with some strong national championships, is one of the stepping stones to the world championship for young drivers.

mode

Between 1924 and 1937 as well as 1947 and 1948, the European Championship was held as a race, the Grand Prix of Europe . The FICM each determined a national Grand Prix, which was the European Championship run in each year.

In the years 1938 and 1939 and since the resumption in 1981, the European Motorcycle Championship consists of several races in which points are awarded. The driver with the most points at the end of the season wins the championship.
