Katja Poensgen

Katja Poensgen (born September 23, 1976 in Mindelheim ) is a German motorcycle racing driver .

Career

Katja Poensgen is the only female motorcycle racer to score points in the 250 cm³ class of the road world championship. In 2001 she took 14th place in the class up to 250 cc at the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello .

Poensgen was brought to motorsport by her father Bert Poensgen , the sales manager of Suzuki in Germany, and in 1993 she contested her first motorcycle race at the Nürburgring in the ADAC Junior Cup . Her first successes came in 1995 when she won the Junior Cup and was also voted "ADAC Junior Sportsman of the Year". In 2001 and 2003 she took part in the world championships on Honda motorcycles .

In 2004 she first ended her career and became a co-presenter for motorcycle races on the TV station RTL . On May 17, 2005, Poensgen gave birth to a daughter.

In 2012 Poensgen took part in the international road racing championships for electrically powered motorcycles TTXGP The eGrandPrix and FIM e-Power International Championship with a Münch TTE-2 .
