Norick Abe
Norifumi "Norick" Abe ( Japanese 阿 部 典 史 , Abe Norifumi ; born September 7, 1975 in Setagaya , Tokyo , † October 7, 2007 in Kawasaki , Kanagawa Prefecture ) was a Japanese motorcycle racer .
life and career
Abe competed in the Superbike World Championship for Yamaha until 2006 . His best results in this class were three fourth places (2005 in Brno in the second race and 2006 in Valencia in both races). Qualifying was seen as his big weakness, which is why he was mostly in the back seat at the start. He has been under contract with Yamaha since 1994. After the 2006 season, he resigned and returned to Japan to occasionally take part in various events. Abe also looked after his junior team (Team Norick jun.) And continued to work as an official test driver for Yamaha and also competed in the Japanese Superbike Championship in 2007. He drove a Yamaha YZF-R1 there .
He had a fatal accident in a traffic accident on the night of October 6th to 7th, 2007, when his private motorcycle hit a truck that was illegally turning on an expressway.
