Heinz Luthringshauser

Heinz Luthringshauser (born January 21, 1931 in Otterbach (West Palatinate) ; † September 5, 1997 ) was a German motorcycle racer who rode in the sidecar class of the motorcycle world championship between 1961 and 1977 .
Career
Heinz Luthringshauser and his partner Armgard Neumann became German champions in the sidecar class up to 500 cc in 1970 on a BMW .
In 1972 he won the Vice World Championship in the sidecar class together with Hans-Jürgen Cusnick. In the penultimate race of the 1972 season, the Grand Prix of Czechoslovakia on the Masaryk-Ring near Brno , the two, who had been leading the world championship up until then, had a serious accident. While Luthringshauser got away with minor injuries, Cusnik died on the way to the hospital. The duo Klaus Enders / Ralf Engelhardt then secured the title .
In the 1974 season he won the Tourist Trophy , the toughest motorcycle race in the world on the Isle of Man, with co-driver Hermann Hahn . In total, he posted two Grand Prix victories on his success account.
Life
After his active time, Luthringshauser founded a motorcycle museum in Otterbach (West Palatinate) in 1980 , which he ran until his death in 1997. The museum is set up in the former Protestant church of the village; it shows motorcycles of international origin from the past 80 years.
