history

In the founding years after 1924, the company dealt with the production of film projectors and outboard motors under the direction of Manuel Giro . Eduardo Giro, son of Manuel Giro, launched in 1950 with the production of small two-stroke - motorcycles in his father's factory. In the late 1960s, Mick Andrews joined Ossa as a works driver and technical advisor. Eduardo Giro and Mick Andrews developed the MAR (Mick Andrews Replica), with which Mick won the Scottish six-day race. 1972 Andrews left the company and switched to competitor Yamaha . 1973 Ossa presented the Phantom, a motocross machine. At the end of the 1970s the economy in Spain stagnated, and Japanese motorcycle manufacturers had an increasing influence on the European market. Ossa did not survive the crisis and closed its doors in 1984.

Since 2009, production has been resuming in Girona under the name OSSA Factory and with the well-known logo. The first model of the new era is the Ossa TR 280i trial motorcycle .

Ossa merged with GasGas in 2014 . When GasGas was taken over by Torrot in 2015, Ossa was not taken over and was closed.
