After Espargaró was the youngest rider to win the Spanish 125cc championship , he contested his first race in the motorcycle world championship in 2004 on a Honda . In 2005 the first full season for the Seedorf RC3 Racing Team followed , which he finished in 16th place with 36 points. The next season he started with the BQR Racing Team again in the 125cc class and moved to six races to succeed the retiring Sebastián Porto to the 250s into the team Repsol Honda . The seasons 2007 at Blusens Aprilia Germany and 2008 at Lotus Aprilia finished Espargaró in 15th and twelfth place respectively.
For 2009 he was no longer given a permanent place in the World Cup. He worked as a test driver for a Moto2 prototype and competed in the Spanish championship. As a substitute, he drove two races in the 250cc World Championship for the Balatonring team at the Dutch TT in Assen , where he finished fourth, and at the Sachsenring , where he finished seventh. In Indianapolis and Misano , he represented Mika Kallio , who in turn represented the sick Casey Stoner in the Ducati factory team , in the Pramac Racing team on a Ducati Desmosedici GP9 in the MotoGP class. His performance in both races earned him a contract with this team for the 2010 season as the successor to Niccolò Canepa . Espargaró finished his first full MotoGP season with 65 points (best results were two eighth places) in 14th place. However, his contract was not extended and he did not find a motorcycle in any other team. Therefore, in 2011 he switched back to the middle class, which had meanwhile become Moto2, to the Sito Pons team . He finished twelfth with 76 points and a podium (third in Barcelona ) and left his team-mate Axel Pons (son of the team boss) well behind. That was enough to return to the premier class in 2012 . He now drove for the Jorge Martínez ′ Aspar team.
