The F4 1000 S is a superbike motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer MV Agusta .
After the F4 S with the 750 cm³ engine was discontinued in 2004, the F4 1000 S is the cheapest variant of the F4 model series.
The construction of the F4 comes from Massimo Tamburini , who was also responsible for the Ducati 916/996 series.
The 1000 S is powered by a one-liter inline four-cylinder engine with two overhead camshafts and intake manifold injection . Typical of MV Agusta are the 4 radial valves on each cylinder.
The power is transmitted by a 6-speed cassette gearbox . This design originally comes from racing and enables quick dismantling from the housing and thus time-saving changes to the gear ratios.
The compact and torsion-resistant tubular space frame made of chrome - molybdenum-heat - treatable steel , the load-bearing motor and the aluminum single-sided swing arm, which enables the rear wheel to be changed quickly, set the style. The rear chainring sits on the outside of the swing arm, opposite the wheel and is therefore accessible for gear ratio changes without time-consuming wheel removal.
The front brake consists of two floating 310 mm brake discs in conjunction with conventionally bolted 6-piston brake calipers, which are rarely found. The F4 1000 S had the typical MV Agusta color combination of red / silver.
Based on the F4 1000 S , the special models F4 AGO and the F4 Tamburini with 127 kW (173 PS ) were created.
