Eugene Laverty (2009)

Eugene Laverty (born June 3, 1986 in Toomebridge , Northern Ireland ) is a British motorcycle racer .

His older brothers Michael (* 1981) and John (* 1982) are also active motorcycle racers.

Career

Laverty drove his first race in 2001 on the airfield circuit of Nutts Corner and won in the same year his first race at the Mondello Park . In 2007 and 2008 he drove first for Honda , then for Aprilia in the 250 cm³ class in the motorcycle world championship and was able to achieve a podium place for the first time at the Supersport World Championship in Vallelunga with a wild card . In 2009 and 2010 he competed regularly in the Supersport World Championship, which he finished as runner-up in these years.

Superbike World Championship

In 2011 he competed for the Yamaha World Superbike Team in the Superbike World Championship and was able to achieve two race wins in his first season. After the Yamaha works team withdrew from the Superbike World Championship at the end of the 2011 season, Laverty has signed up for the Aprilia works team for the next two years.

In the 2014 season he competes in the Superbike World Championship for the Crescent Suzuki team.
