Michael Laverty (born June 7, 1981 in Toomebridge ) is a British motorcycle racer . His younger brothers John (* 1982) and Eugene (* 1986) are also motorcycle racers.

Career

Laverty initially drove in the British Supersport Championship from 2001 to 2004. In 2005 and 2006 he started for the Stobart Motorsport team in the British Superbike Championship . In 2007 he went back to the British Supersport Championship with the Relentless Racing team and won the title. With the same team he rode in the British Superbike Championship in 2008. In 2009 Laverty started in the US AMA Superbike Championship and some races in the Supersport World Championship . From 2010 to 2012 he drove again in the British Supersport Championship. At the 2013 Laverty competed in the MotoGP with Paul Bird Motorsport and their self-produced chassis . His teammate was the Colombian Yonny Hernández .

Private

Laverty is engaged to his girlfriend Jordi.
