Dave Bargeron

Dave Bargeron (born September 6, 1942 in New York ) is an American jazz trombonist and tuba player .

Life

Dave Bargeron had his first job as lead trombonist with the Clark Terry Big Band (1968-1970). At the same time he also played bass trombone and tuba in Doc Severinsen's band . In 1970 he became a member of the jazz rock band Blood, Sweat & Tears . The first album he played on was Blood, Sweat & Tears 4 . He has recorded a total of eleven albums with Blood, Sweat & Tears. In 1972 Bargeron also became a member of the Gil Evans Orchestra , in which he still plays today. After Bargeron left Blood, Sweat & Tears, he became a freelance musician in New York City . He has worked with famous musicians such as B. Paul Simon , Mick Jagger , James Taylor , Eric Clapton , David Sanborn and Pat Metheny made recordings. Bargeron was also a long time member of Jaco Pastorius' Word of Mouth Band . He is currently recording and touring internationally with the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band , with George Russell's International Living Time Orchestra and with Rabih Abou-Khalil . He is also a founding member of Howard Johnson's 6-tuba band 'Gravity' and has his own band, 'Tuba Tuba', a jazz tuba band with French tuba player Michel Godard , accordionist Luciano Biondini and drummer Kenwood Dennard . 'Tuba Tuba' tours mainly in Europe and has performed at various jazz festivals and master classes.

Bargeron has recorded several CDs, both as a soloist and in collaboration with other musicians. In 2006 he lived with his family (four children) in New York.
