Mapleshade Records

Mapleshade Records is an American jazz and blues record label that was founded in 1989.

Mapleshade Records was founded in 1989 by Pierre Sprey, a former aerospace engineer who began making records in 1986. The label is based in Upper Marlboro, Maryland ; In 1995 the sister label Wildchild Records was created. Mapleshade began releasing R&B and blues music , such as Sunnyland Slim . Recordings by artists such as Chris Anderson , Dave Bargeron , Gary Bartz , Keter Betts , Hamiet Bluiett , Walter Booker , Walter Davis Jr. , Santi Debriano , Mary Ann Driscoll , Frank Foster , Thurman Green , John Hicks , Shirley Horn appeared on the label , Jack Jeffers , Clifford Jordan , Raphe Malik , Paul Murphy , Ted Nash , John Purcell , Warren Smith and Larry Willis ( Sanctuary, 2003).
