history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1358. The owners were initially the Vladike von Žďárec, who had their seat opposite the village on a spur above the Libochovka. The Porta Coeli monastery later acquired the goods. In 1782 the monastery was closed by Emperor Joseph II as part of the Josephine reforms . Subsequently, the village became subject to the secular rule of Porta Coeli.

After the abolition of patrimonial Žďárec / Zdiaretz formed from 1850 with the district Ostrov a municipality in the Brno district and judicial district Tischnowitz . Since 1896 the community belonged to the newly formed district of Tischnowitz. In 1899, the writer Anna Pammrová had a single simple log cabin built north of the village above the Loučka valley, where she lived in harmony with nature. Not far from there, the Prague entrepreneurial family Havel built a handsome summer residence in 1907, which over the years expanded into the Havlov holiday resort, where Václav Havel also lived as a child for several years. After the dissolution of the Okres Tišnov, the village came to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou at the beginning of 1961 . In 1965 Víckov was incorporated. Subsequently, Žďárec received an upswing due to its functionality as a central village, which it owned until 1989. Subsequently, the affiliated localities broke away again and formed their own communities. Since the beginning of 2005, Žďárec has belonged to the Okres Brno-venkov . Žďárec is the parish for several surrounding villages. After 2000 a primary school was built in the village with a catchment area of twelve villages.
