history

The first written mention of the village was in 1330. The name of the village may be derived from the Slavic deity Radhošť . Radostice was an independent estate and a knight's seat. In 1333 the Vladiken Mikuláš and Petr von Radostice founded the Church of St. Simon and Juda. At the beginning of the 17th century Radostice consisted of 18 houses. The festivals and the manor house were extinguished during the Thirty Years War, and the village was largely desolate. Only three managed properties are shown in the hoof register for Radostice. In 1790 Radostice consisted of 14 houses. In 1834 the place had grown to 31 houses and had 143 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Radostice formed from 1850 a municipality in the district authority of Brno. In the 1860s, the tunnel was built west of the village for the railway line Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou-Střelice , in which dynamite was used for the first time . The line went into operation in 1870. In 1921 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Brno-venkov. Between 1948 and 1960 Radostice belonged to the Okres Brno-okolí. After its abolition, Radostice returned to Okres Brno-venkov. In 2000 the community had 651 inhabitants and consisted of 218 residential buildings.

  • Church of St. Simon and Judah, traceable since 1333. The originally Gothic building was given its current appearance during renovations in 1772 and 1850.
  • Bobrava Nature Park, west and north of the village
  • Natural monument Střelická bažinka , north of Radostice in the Bobrava valley by the railway bridge, protected since 1980
  • Železňák stone railway bridge over the Bobrava, north of the Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou – Brno railway line.
  • Railway tunnels, both tunnels with a length of 85 and 322 m respectively, were excavated in the 1860s under the direction of chief engineer August Köstlin as the first in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy to use dynamite instead of conventional gunpowder . They were designed for two-track operation, but a second track has never been laid. The tunnel portals were made of quarry stone. During repair work in the 1970s, the track was relocated to the center of the tunnel.
