Ochoz u Brna , until 1950 Ochoz (German: Ochos ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located twelve kilometers northeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

geography

Ochoz u Brna is located in the Drahaner Bergland . The village, surrounded by forests, is located on the southern edge of the Moravský kras nature reserve and is traversed by the Ochozský potok brook. The Údolí Říčky Nature Park extends to the south. The Vysoká (492 m) rises to the north, the Skalka (478 m) to the northeast, the Lysá hora (428 m) to the south and the Baba (496 m) to the northwest.

Neighboring towns are Habrůvka , Křtiny , Březina and Proseč in the north, Novy Dvur and Lhotky in the Northeast, Hádek and Pod Hádkem the east, Hostěnice the southeast, Mokrá , Horákov , Horni Mlyn and Prostřední Mlýn in the south, Vinohrady and Maloměřice in the southwest, Bílovice nad Svitavou , Řícmanice and Obce in the west and Kanice and Babice nad Svitavou in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the Premonstratensian monastery Obrowitz village was on September 27, 1237 in one of Pope Gregory IX. signed treatise on the inviolability of ecclesiastical property by secular lords after a large number of villages had been destroyed in the fratricidal war between Wenceslas I and Přemysl of Moravia . After the abolition of the monastery in the course of the Josephine reforms, Ochoz became part of the secular rule of Obrowitz in 1784. In the same year, the religious fund donated a restaurant in Ochoz. Ochoz was school and parish for Ubetz and four mills. In 1830 the Imperial and Royal State Goods Disposal Commission sold the Obrowitz estate with all its accessories for the highest bid for 222,000 florins to Franz Xaver von Dietrichstein- Proskau. In 1834 Ochoz consisted of 42 houses and had 257 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Ochoz / Ochos a municipality in the district administration Brno . In 1905 the lower jaw of a Neanderthal man was found in the Swedish table grotto. In 1921 Ochoz was assigned to the Okres Brno-venkov . On December 22, 1947, Obce was incorporated. Since the beginning of 1951 the municipality has been called Ochoz u Brna (German: Ochoz bei Brno ). Between 1948 and 1960 the Ochoz u Brna was part of the Okres Brno-okolí and since 1961 it has belonged again to the Brno-venkov. In 1988 Obce lost the status of a district.

A large limestone quarry is operated northeast of the municipality.

  • Church of St. Wenceslas, built in 1659 as a stopover on the pilgrimage route to the Křtiny pilgrimage church on the site of a Gothic chapel. Between 1740 and 1750 the church was greatly enlarged.
  • Ponor Estavela, in which the Říčka river disappears and continues underground, southeast of Ochoz
  • Karst cave Pekárna , south of Ochoz at the confluence of the Hostěnický potok in the Říčka
  • Karst caves Ochozská jeskyně and jeskyně Švédův stůl ( Swedish table grotto ) in the valley of the Říčka, southeast of the village. The Swedish table grotto is a place where a Neanderthal man was found .
  • Reservoir Pod Hádkem on the Říčka, southeast of the village
  • Kaprálova spring on the Horní Mlýn
