Obce (German Ubetz , formerly cattle herders ) is a village in the municipality of Ochoz u Brna in the Czech Republic . It is located twelve kilometers northeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

geography

Obce is located on the right bank of the Ochozský potok brook in the Drahan Mountains . The village, surrounded by forests, is located on the southern edge of the Moravský kras protected landscape area . The Údolí Říčky Nature Park extends to the south. In the north rises the Vysoká (492 m), northeast the Skalka (478 m), in the southeast the Lysá hora (428 m) and northwest the Baba (496 m). The Obecný potok stream rises to the southwest.

Neighboring towns are Habrůvka and Křtiny in the north, Březina , Proseč and Nový Dvůr in the northeast, Ochoz u Brna in the east, Hostěnice and Mokrá in the southeast, Horákov , Horní Mlýn and Prostřední Mlýn in the south, Líšeíň and Maloměclovice nt . Sv in the west and Kanice in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the Obess manor belonging to the Líšeň manor was in 1254. At that time, the owners were the Lords of Obřany . In 1264 Líšeň, together with Obess the monastery Smilheim given. Over time, the village was called Ubecz , Wobetz and Viechhürten . After the nobles Líšeň and Obess had usurped together with other monastery villages, it was returned to the order after a papal threat of ban in 1361. Shortly thereafter, the monastery pawned the villages of Líšeň, Ubecz and Neigh to the Moravian mint master Arnold. After the fall of the monastery, Líšeň and Ubecz were added to the Spielberg Chamber of Commerce and pledged to Heinrich von Lomnitz. Numerous changes of ownership followed from 1512. In 1714 Norbert Leopold von Kolowrat sold the Líšeň / Lösch estate with all its accessories to Johann Ritter von Freienfels on Bosenitz . In 1790 203 people lived in the 39 houses of the village. In 1816 Franz Xaver von Freienfels bequeathed the property to Count Eduard Belcredi. In 1834 the village Ubec , located on the road from Brno to Křtiny, consisted of 51 houses and had 311 inhabitants. Ubec remained subject to the allodial rule of Lösch until the middle of the 19th century. The school and pastor's location was Ochoz.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Ubec / Ubetz a municipality in the district administration Brno . At the beginning of the 20th century, the place was called Ubce . In 1905 the lower jaw of a Neanderthal man was found in the Swedish table grotto. In 1921 Ubce was assigned to the Okres Brno-venkov . The place has been called Obce since 1925 . On December 22nd, 1947 it was incorporated into Ochoz . Between 1948 and 1960 Obce was part of the Okres Brno-okolí and since 1961 the place belongs again to the Brno-venkov. In 1988 Obce lost the status of a district. Today Obce and Ochoz have grown into one unit. A large limestone quarry is operated northeast of the town.
