Okres Brno-venkov (German District Brno-Land ) surrounds the district Brno-City and was created in 1960 or as part of the Jihomoravský kraj in the south of the Czech Republic .

geography

The area was already heavily populated as early as the Stone Age, as numerous archaeological finds testify to. The area of ​​the district is 149,900 hectares or 1,499 km², on which there are 187 municipalities, including 13 cities. The district is an agriculturally heavily used area, with the cultivation of cereals, tubers, fruit, vegetables and viticulture. The agricultural area occupies 56% of the total area. The district does not have its own district town; this function is assumed by the district and district town of Brno . On January 1, 2005, 24 municipalities and the municipality Senorady from Okres Třebíč were reclassified from the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . The district was further enlarged on January 1, 2007 by 14 municipalities from Okres Blansko , the town of Pohořelice and a further 6 municipalities from Okres Břeclav and 4 municipalities from Okres Znojmo .
