Location of the Okres Brno-město

Okres Brno-město (German District Brno City ) is located in the South Moravian Region in the Czech Republic .

The Brno-City District comprises an urban district with the area of Brno , the second largest city in the Czech Republic and the center of Moravia . About a third of the population of the South Moravian Region ( Jihomoravský kraj ) lives in the urban district . Almost a tenth of the total area is built on, around two thirds of the arable land is made up and 28% is forested.

The city of Brno (or in German Brno) is one of the oldest industrial areas, but also trade and exhibition centers in Europe. Of the 194,000 people in employment, around 19% are employed in industry, 13% in trade, 10% in construction, 39% in business-related services, and 16% in education and health. Unemployment is 9.1%, of which a quarter are young people.
