history
The first written mention of the place (as Babibcz ) comes from the year 1356. At that time the village probably belonged to the lands of the Obřany Castle . After disputes with Brno, the castle was captured and destroyed. John of Luxembourg donated Obřany to the city of Brno. The Ronov Castle was built on the site of the destroyed castle and the rule went to Čeňek Krušina von Lichtenburg , later to the Margrave Johann Heinrich and from 1410 to the Schwarzenberg von Boskowitz . In 1604 it belonged to the Lords of Pozořice . During the Thirty Years War the village was looted twice and burned down in 1645. After 1648 there was a new settlement. The place suffered further destruction after the battle of Königgrätz . The first school was built in 1764 and the railroad in 1843.
