history

Štěpánovice probably originated in the 14th century. The place is named after the founder of the Doubravník monastery , Stephan de Lapide . The village was first mentioned in writing in 1589 when it was sold by Johann von Pernstein to Paul Katharyn von Katharn. Štěpánovice belonged at that time along with Zahrada for Good Drahonín the rule of Pernstein . Katharyn sold the property in 1592 to Hynek Brtnický von Waldstein , who left the village to the Porta Coeli monastery in 1593 as part of an exchange of goods . In 1782 the monastery was abolished in the course of the Josephine reforms by Emperor Joseph II and its property was placed under the administration of the Bohemian crown. The Porta Coeli estate was sold to Wilhelm von Mundy in 1799 . In 1821 Johann von Mundy sold the rule to Friedrich Schell von Wittinghoff.

After the abolition of patrimonial Štěpánovice formed from 1850 with the district Zahrada a municipality in the Brno district and judicial district Tischnowitz . In 1861 the St. Marienthal monastery acquired the property from the widow Schell. Since 1896 the community belonged to the newly formed district of Tischnowitz. A school library was set up in the village school in 1899. In the same year the volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1905 the railway line from Nové Město na Moravě to Tišnov was put into operation and a train station was inaugurated on the opposite side of the river. In 1924 the village consisted of 55 houses and had 302 inhabitants. In 1948 Zahrada was reassigned to Kaly . After the dissolution of the Okres Tišnov, the municipality came to the Okres Brno-venkov at the beginning of 1961 . Between 1980 and 1990 the village was incorporated into Tišnov. Štěpánovice has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2004.
