Ivaň (German Eibis ) is a municipality with 723 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic .
geography
The village is 172 m. ü. M. twelve kilometers west of Hustopeče in an estuary on the left bank of the Jihlava between the rivers Šatava and Svratka , which merge two kilometers southeast and flow into the Dyje in the Nové Mlýny (Neumühl) dam . Ivaň is located in a pond and alluvial forest landscape, in the west of the village is the lake Vrkoč. In the south on the bank of the reservoir there are the natural monuments Dolní mušovský luh (45 hectares) and Betlem , in the north there is another natural monument with the Plačkův les a říčka Šatava (Plačkův forest and river Šatava).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1257; the year 1073 mentioned in the literature in connection with the transfer of income by Vratislav II to the Opatowitz monastery has proven to be wrong. In 1581 Emperor Rudolf II left the village to Friedrich von Žerotín . Until the abolition of patrimonial Eibis belonged to the Seelowitz rule . After that it was part of the Brno district and judicial district of Seelowitz.
Between 1945 and 1950 the place belonged to the Okres Hustopeč and then until the territorial reform of 1960 to the Okres Židlochovice . Since its dissolution until 2006, the place was part of the Okres Břeclav and since January 1, 2007 it belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .
Attractions
St. Bartholomew's Church, built in 1791, was built on the site of a chapel that had existed since 1724. In the 19th century it was rebuilt and the central tower was raised. The church dominates the townscape.
