history
Lechstedt was first mentioned in a document in 1175 as Lecstide. The spelling changed from Locstide, Lechstide, Lacstede, and Lexstede to Leixsteide in 1459.
The place became one of the first Protestant villages in this region in 1556 . The church and rectory of Lechstedt were the victim of a major fire in 1711 and ten years later they were replaced by a new building by Johann Friedrich Leopold von Stopler and his wife.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Lechstedt had 230 residents and had a brick factory and a dairy .
Due to the regional reform on March 1, 1974, Lechstedt became one of 13 districts in the city of Bad Salzdetfurth.

Culture and sights
- The church in Lechstedt was built in the baroque style in 1721 after the fire of the previous church, which was mentioned as a fortified church in 1418 . It is also called the “Von Stopler Church” after its builder. From the interior, the baroque altar and a baptismal angel with a shell from the 18th century are noteworthy.
- The white tower mill on Pfaffenstieg is the landmark of Lechstedt.
- The "old forester's house" was built in 1853 as a mansion for the Lords of Stopler.
- Well-preserved half-timbered houses are worth seeing in several places in Lechstedt. Some of them date from the beginning of the 18th century, for example in the Ringstrasse and in the Golden Angle.
