Listringen is a district of the city of Bad Salzdetfurth in Lower Saxony and is located in the Hildesheim district , about 10 km southeast of Hildesheim, in the Harz foreland . The state capital Hanover is about 30 km to the northwest. The village is located above the Innerste river valley . To the north of the town is one of the most fertile regions in Germany, the Hildesheimer Börde .

history

The first documentary mention of the village of Listringen, which once belonged to Flenithigau, can be found between 1175 and 1178 in the deed of donation from Bishop Adelog von Hildesheim to Adelheid , the widow of Vicedominus Konrad II von Wassel .

In addition to the Heinde estate, which she received as a widow's seat, she was enfeoffed with a farm of 6 Hufen land in Listringen, a tithe and a mill for life. This donation created a connection between the villages of Listringen and Heinde that continues to this day . The von Wallmoden family became the owners of the Heinde estate through inheritance, after ecclesiastical and secular feudal lords changed ownership of the lands and places until the 14th century . Until 1550 all property in Listringen and Heinde was owned by the brothers of. Wallmoden acquired back.

The parish of Listringen was originally parish in Heinde . In 1450 Thedel von Wallmoden, who Listringen called "my village", built a chapel on the inheritance of his father, which was consecrated to St. George . The pastor of Heinde had to hold a weekly mass there.

In 1804, Count Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn built today's chapel. A snake ring is carved on the lintel as a symbol of eternity, in which there is an eye surrounded by the triangular glory of rays. The bell cast by Henning Lampe in Hildesheim in 1645 with the image of the dragon slayer St. Georg and a baptismal font from 1589 remind of the old chapel .

About the origin of the place name, which includes the variations Linstringh and Listringhe , nothing is known. The vernacular reports that a battle once took place here, where the armies camped near Heersum in order to "wrestle with cunning" near Listringen. According to another reading, the gentlemen von Heinde had their tournament place there and "did wrestle with pleasure". The name of the little forest Papenlah is interpreted as "Papenlager" when Gottfried Heinrich Graf zu Pappenheim besieged Hildesheim in 1632 .

The place of justice of the village, the Thie , was in the former school garden west of the church. Here under tall oaks lay large stones that served as seats. Should a meeting take place, the bell of the Georgskapelle was rung.

An old legend reports that in the past there was a "fountain of health" near Listringen. Many sick people found healing there. No payment could be made for the healing potion. When a rich man recovered from his illness, a sum of money was demanded from him, and on the next day the source dried up. This fountain of health will have been the sulfur spring near the Papenlah.

The first school house was built in 1737. It contained a room and three chambers. The living room also served as a school room. In addition to the school service, the teacher also had to do catechism, prayers and Christian church, to raise the prayer bell, to ring the harvest showers, to clean the church and to watch the clock of the tower.

In 1848 the field mark was linked . In 1858 the current school building was rebuilt and in November 1917 it received an electrical lighting system. Ten years later, the cattle census showed 39 households with 40 horses, 121 heads of cattle, 165 pigs, 36 goats, 566 chickens, 12 beehives and 168 sheep. These statistics show that Listringen used to be a farming village with handicraft businesses that were dependent on agriculture, such as saddlery, blacksmithing, cartwright and carpentry. Masons worked as home butchers in winter . All craftsmen also worked their own farmland.

This village image has changed over the years. The school room has been redesigned as a village community room because the school was closed in 1965. The school chronicle, which began in 1877, is in the town hall of Bad Salzdetfurth , which, along with other villages, also incorporated Listringen. The last teacher in the village was also its last chronicler .

A street name reminds of the craftsmen. The farms are z. Partly farmed as a sideline, and most of the residents do not work in the village as they used to be.

On March 1, 1974, Listringen was incorporated into the city of Bad Salzdetfurth.
