Ponětovice (German Puntowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers southeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov . The battle of Austerlitz took place in the corridors of the community in 1805 .
geography
Ponětovice is located between the Drahaner Bergland and the Steinitzer Forest in the foothills of the Thaya-Schwarza valley basin . The village lies at the confluence of the Roketnice in the Říčka ( Goldbach ). Brno-Tuřany Airport is located west of Ponětovice . The railway line from Brno to Blažovice runs through the village . The large Ponětovický rybník pond is on the north-eastern edge of the village.
Neighboring towns are Jiříkovice and Blažovice in the northeast, Prace in the southeast, Kobylnice in the south, Dvorska in the southwest and Šlapanice in the northwest.
history
Ponětovice was first mentioned in a document in 1306.
On December 2, 1805, Puntowitz was held by the troops of French Marshal Nicolas Jean-de-Dieu Soult and was on the western edge of the battlefield of the Battle of the Three Emperors . The French took their injured people via Puntowitz to the hospital in Schlapanitz . The path along the Goldbach was later called the Blood Path.
Until the abolition of patrimonial rule in 1848, the place belonged to the Sokolnice manor .
In 2000 the new chapel was consecrated, which is the symbol of the village. The BC Cerkom Ponětovice billiards club has existed in the small town since 1992, playing in the first division and having already won national championships.
