The Petrel Station (Spanish Base Petrel ) is an Argentine research station. It is located on Dundee Island . After commissioning on February 22, 1967, it was operated all year round until 1978 and then as a summer station, and finally abandoned in the 1995/96 Antarctic season. Located 18 meters above sea level and on volcanic rock, the closest base is the Esperanza station in Hope Bay , 37 kilometers away. The nearest port is Ushuaia (1,357 kilometers).
