history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1398. The place was probably created at the beginning of the 14th century when the Heynrichser Land was settled by German colonists. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the place belonged to the Vladiken von Borovník. In 1451, Bernard von Borovník was the last to be proven. According to old legends, there were once three courtyards in Borovník. In 1581 Jan von Nová Ves and Radkov bought the Borovník and Rozseč estates . Towards the end of the 16th century, Smil Osovský z Doubravice Borovník bought the goods to his rule Ossowa . He was followed in 1594 Alena Meziříčský of Lomnice, their heirs in 1612 Ossowa including its villages Osová Bítýška , Borovník, Milešín , Březí , Skřinářov , Ondrušky, Rozseč, Vlkov and Nová Ves and the desert castles Víckov and Rysov for 22,000 guilders to Jan Humpolecký of Rybenský sold. At the beginning of the 17th century the village consisted of seven houses. In the Thirty Years War the area was u. a. afflicted and devastated by the Swedes. The legend of the giant Juříček comes from this time, who is said to have stopped the sawmill's waterwheel by hand and resisted the Swedes with a hoe for a long time. Borovník was originally parish after Hermannschlag and was later attached to the Březí parish. In 1797 the Counts Haugwitz united the dominions of Náměšť and Ossowa. In 1827 the village was hit by a severe flood of the Halda.

After the abolition of patrimonial Borovník formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Březí in the district administration Velké Meziříčí . At the end of the 19th century Borovník broke away and formed its own municipality, which until 1904 also included Rozseč as a district. In 1900 there were 168 people living in Borovník's 21 houses. In 1910 the municipalities of Rozseč and Borovník decided to build a joint school. The location was debated for a long time, after all it should be built in Borovník. After another dispute broke out between the two municipalities about who would be responsible for the builder, classes began in Borovník in 1911 - in the house of Mayor Josef Svoboda. In 1912 the communities finally agreed on the construction and in 1914 the school was inaugurated. At that time, a road construction project was also being discussed, because the road to Borovník was flooded, especially when the snowmelt and heavy rain. A commission initially suggested building the left side of the Halda, and at the instigation of proponents of right-hand road building, some commission members finally changed their minds. When the war broke out, the realization was prevented and the road on the right bank of the stream was not built until 1922. In 1943 a fire brigade was established ex officio in Borovník, which until then had a joint volunteer fire brigade with Rozseč. In the same year the Halda was regulated, and the new road bridge was also built. In 1948 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Velká Bíteš. After its dissolution, the village came to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou at the beginning of 1961 . In 1980 Borovník was incorporated into Březí. In 1990 Borovník was established again. Since the beginning of 2005 the Borovník municipality belongs to the Brno-venkov Okres . Borovník today consists of 44 houses.
