Moravské Knínice (German Mährisch Kinitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 18 kilometers northwest of the city center of Brno and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

geography

Moravské Knínice is located in Bobravská vrchovina in the valley of the Kuřimka river. The Čebínský kopec (369 m) and Převych (364 m) rise in the north, the Cimperk (397 m) to the northeast, the Kuřimská hora (435 m) to the east, the Sychrov (463 m) southeast, the Batělov (426 m) to the south m), to the southwest the Kuňky (421 m), to the west the Strážná and to the northwest the Dálka (345 m). The U Marušky golf course is located to the south-east, Veveří Castle to the south- west and the Brno Dam in the south .

Neighboring towns are Malhostovice in the north, Lipůvka in the northeast, Kuřim in the east, Česká , Ivanovice and Jinačovice in the southeast, Rozdrojovice and Obora in the south, Veverská Bítýška and Chudčice in the southwest and Sentice and Čebín in the northwest.

The first written mention of Chieniz was in 1235 in a document from Pope Gregory IX. for the Porta Coeli monastery . In 1238 the village was called Khneniz . In 1350 Boček von Medlov left the villages of Knyechnicz and Kocanov to the brothers Boček, Vilém and Hroznata von Kunstadt . Since the period between 1350 and 1370 the village has always belonged to Eichhorn Castle . The Moravian attribute was first used in 1437 to distinguish the place from the village of Deutsch Kinitz . In 1528 the place name Morawsky Knijniz is handed down. In 1562 the Nunnery Monastery acquired the Eichhorn rule. The oldest local seal dates from 1667. In 1836, 460 people lived in the 84 houses of the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial Moravské Kinice / Mährisch Kinitz formed a community in the Brno district from 1850. The road to Kuřim was built between 1892 and 1894 . Between 1902 and 1904 the road to Čebín was built, and between 1911 and 1922 the road to Chudčice was built. In 1905 the village was assigned to the district of Tischnowitz . In 1910 the construction of the Kuřim – Veverská Bítýška railway began . It was inaugurated the following year. Also in 1911 a Czech school started teaching. In 1930 the village had 852 inhabitants. The railroad stopped running as early as 1936 and the rail vehicles were sold to the Baťa company in Zlín . In the course of the construction of the Reichsautobahn Breslau-Vienna , the railway line for material transport was resumed. In 1943 the construction of the motorway east of the village was stopped. On August 25, 1944, Mährisch Kinitz was bombed when Allied aircraft attacked the Klöckner-Werke aircraft engine factory in Gurein . Between May 8 and 9, 1945, the Wehrmacht withdrew from Gurein, blew up several bridges and set fire to the Klöckner-Werke Gurein. In 1948 the Okres Tišnov was abolished. Between 1949 and 1960 Moravské Knínice belonged to the Okres Brno-okolí and after its dissolution back to the Okres Brno-venkov. Within the local area of ​​Moravské Knínice, the railroad tracks were dismantled after the Second World War. In 1970 the village was incorporated into Kuřim. The Moravské Knínice municipality has existed again since 1990.
