action

The aging triad boss Wong tries to keep the negotiated peace in Hong Kong's underworld, although he and the other syndicate bosses are increasingly harassed by the unscrupulous Japanese Kai. Kai is an aspiring gang boss who does not shy away from the use of violence and systematically sows discord among the long-established triad clans. The leaders react prudently at first, no reprisals are taken. This passivity is met with incomprehension by Wong's ambitious son Yuen. His emotional disappointment intensifies when he hears about the lack of trust from his father, who does not consider him a worthy successor.

Meanwhile, Wong has his competitor Kai under surveillance. In doing so, he discovers that he is probably informed about his only weak point: a missing English stepdaughter. The triad boss secretly sends his loyal bodyguard Leung to London to guarantee the physical integrity of Chloe, a waitress whose identity even Yuen does not know. Leung initially acts in secret in the British capital until his guardian notices the taciturn Asian. A little later, the young woman succumbs to the fascination of the mysterious stranger. When they are brought in by Kai's followers, a struggle for bare survival begins for both of them. In this situation, they eventually come closer physically as well.

Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, Kai takes advantage of Yuen's discontent to make a pact with the son of his archenemy. When Yuen is convicted of treason, triad boss Wong casts off his own son, who now loses all means of living. Wong reacts bitterly. He orders Leung and Chloe back to Hong Kong. At the same time he opens a bloody gang war that decimates Kai's followers. In the course of this action, Kai's little daughter is brutally murdered. A little later Chloe, who in the meantime has been clarified about her true identity, is kidnapped on behalf of the vengeful Kais. In the event of a final argument, there is a bloody showdown . Wong is murdered by Kai, while the disgraced Yuen avenges his father's death and kills Kai. Yuen later saves Leung and Chloe's lives. At the end of the film, Yuen succeeds triad boss Wong.
