Čučice (German Tschutschitz , formerly Czuczitz , also Czutczitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers northwest of Ivančice and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

geography

Čučice is located in the southwest of the Bobravská vrchovina . The village , originally laid out as a round , is located at the southeastern foot of the Dlouhé příčky hill (415 m) on the right-hand side above the valley basin of the Čučický creek. Towards the south and west, the Oslava forms a deeply cut valley. In the east rises the Na Úzkých (369 m), south of the U Oběšeneho (369 m), in the southwest of the Vodanský kopec (397 m). The village is located in the area of ​​the Oslava Natural Park.

Neighboring towns are Ketkovice and Lukovany in the north, Zakřany , Horní Kolonie and Zbýšov in the northeast, Důl Anna, Mašinka and Padochov in the east, Zaraženský Dvůr, Oslavany and Nová Ves in the southeast, Biskoupky in the south, Senorady in the southwest, Ketkovský Madlský and Senorady in the West as well as Kuroslepy in the northwest.

history

Archaeological finds in the municipality can be dated to the Stone Age.

The first written mention of the village and a vineyard took place in 1101 in the founding document of the Benedictine monastery of the Assumption of Mary in Třebíč . The church is according to tradition in 1043 by Duke I. Břetislav have been created. Later the village became part of the Krumlov domain . Among the owners were among others Heinrich von Leipa and his wife Barbara von Podiebrad (1446–1469), a daughter of Georg von Podiebrad . After Heinrich von Leipa's death, his son Berchtold inherited the Krumlov rule. Around 1480 he pledged the town of Eibenschitz , the Rauchowan and the villages of Leipertitz , Herzmanitz , Ketkowitz , Czuczitz and Rapotitz as well as the part of the desert Rapstein Castle to Wilhelm II of Pernstein . The deposit was released again later. In 1790 Czuczitz consisted of 33 houses and 170 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Čučice formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Třebíč . Between 1949 and 1960 Čučice belonged to Okres Rosice and after its dissolution at the beginning of 1961 to Okres Brno-venkov . Between 1986 and 1990 Čučice was incorporated into Oslavany .

Mining

The area around Čučice is an old mining area. Silver mines existed here in the Middle Ages. Lime shafts were later operated west of the village. In 1845 graphite and iron ore deposits were discovered. A little later a mining company was formed which began to mine the Moravian graphite outcrop. In 1893 the Viennese mining entrepreneur Eduard Elbogen stopped graphite mining. The last iron ore from the Joseph shaft was mined in 1919.
