history
Otmarov was laid out in 1783 by the Abbot Ottmar Konrad of the Rajhrad monastery at the request of Emperor Joseph II and in memory of the extinct settlement of Dunajovice. Dunajovice or Dunava was about a kilometer southwest and went out in the 15th century after a village fire and the subsequent outbreak of the plague. The new settlers were Germans from Opatov in northeastern Bohemia. The inhabitants lived from agriculture, the soils of the place were productive and the climate was mild.
After the abolition of patrimonial Otmarov formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Hustopeče . On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the town, the residents built a chapel in 1883. In 1948 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Židlochovice. After its abolition, Otmarov came to Okres Brno-venkov in 1961 and was incorporated into Rajhradice at the same time . The Otmarov municipality has existed again since 1990.
