Mělčany (German Mieltschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers southeast of Ivančice and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .
geography
Mělčany is located in the Šatava valley at the transition from the Bobravská vrchovina to the Thaya-Schwarza valley basin . The Jalovčiny (334 m) rises to the north.
Neighboring towns are Silůvky , Prštice and Tikovice in the north, Ořechov and Hajany in the northeast, Syrovice in the east, Sobotovice and Bratčice in the southeast, Němčičky and Pravlov in the south, Dolní Kounice in the southwest, Moravské Bránice in the west and Karlov and Hlína in the northwest.
history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Rosa Coeli monastery took place in 1181. After the monastery was dissolved, Mělčany became subject to the Kanitz rule.
After the abolition of patrimonial Mělčany formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Auspitz . Between 1948 and 1960 Mělčany belonged to the Okres Rosice. After its abolition, Mělčany was assigned to the Okres Brno-venkov.
