Senorady (formerly Senohrady , German Senorad ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers northwest of Ivančice and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

geography

Senorady is located in the southeast of the Jevišovická pahorkatina in the valley basin of the Senoradský creek. To the north lies the deeply cut valley of the Oslava and its tributary Chvojnice . In the south, the Jihlava also forms a deep valley. In the northeast rises the Vodanský kopec (397 m), east of the U Oběšeneho (369 m), in the southeast of the Biskoupský kopec (397 m), south of the Na Hlinách (389 m) and in the west Velké díly (370 m) and U Skřipiny (369 m). The village lies in the territory of the Oslava Nature Park, which borders the Střední Pojihlaví Nature Park south of Senorady. The extinct settlement Řevušín lies between Senorady and Nová Ves.

Neighboring towns are Senoradský Mlyn, Ketkovský Mlyn and Ketkovice in the north, Čučice in the Northeast, Zaraženský Dvůr and Oslavany in the east, Nova Ves and Biskoupky the southeast, Kozínek and Lhánice in the south, Mohelno in southwestern and Kladeruby nad Oslavou and Kuroslepy in the northwest.

history

Archaeological finds in the area of the municipality can be dated to the Paleolithic . One of the more recent finds is a Roman bronze coin.

To the southeast was the settlement Řevušín. This was first mentioned in 1230 in the course of its pledge by Abbot Ernst of the Trebitsch Monastery to the Cistercian monastery "Vallis S. Mariae" in Oslavany . At the beginning of the 14th century, the Cumans burned the village.

According to Štěpán Ulman, the village was first mentioned in 1320 in a confirmation of ownership of the Oslavany monastery. However, in his work Dějiny Mohelna , published in 1930, the author gave no source for this. The mention of Czynohrad from 1348, when Wyrchoslaus de Petrowicz sold the village of Petrowicz to Mathie de Nachod , is certain . Mathies and his wife Polca used their income from Czynohrad to repay the purchase price. The following owners of the fortress and the village of Czynohrad were Ješek von Wartenberg and Dürnholz with his brothers Beneš and Jindřich, then Smil von Senohrady, Ješek von Pirkštejn and Jan Ptáček von Pirkštejn. He sold the free Senohrady estate with the festival, the village, the farm and a mill in 1415 to Hans von Leipa and Tempelstein . After the Leipaer had acquired the Krumlov rule from the Lords of Kravarn in 1447 , they united their possessions in South Moravia into one great rule. After the Battle of White Mountain in 1621, the property of Pertold von Leipa, who was a leader of the Moravian estates, was confiscated. In 1624 Gundaker von Liechtenstein bought the rule. Senohrady remained submissive to Krumlov until the middle of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Senohrady formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Třebíč . In 1869 427 people lived in the 72 houses of the village. In 1900 Senohrady had 550 inhabitants. The Liechtensteiners remained the owners of the goods until 1908, after which the Counts Kinsky followed . In 1921 575 inhabitants were counted in the place. The community has been called Senorady since 1925 . Between 1949 and 1960 Senorady belonged to the Okres Velká Bíteš and after its dissolution at the beginning of 1961 to the Okres Třebíč . Since January 1st, 2005 Senorady is part of the Okres Brno-venkov .
