history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Přibyslavice estates of Konstanze of Hungary took place in 1224. In the 14th century Petrovice became the property of the Margraves of Moravia and was subject to the Ruckstein (Rukštejn) lordship. This was given to the Counts of Waldstein as a fief at the beginning of the 15th century . George of Podebrady left Petrovice to Nikolaus Petrovský von Hrochov in the middle of the 15th century. Jan von Hrochov sold the village to the Waldsteiners on Brtnice in 1599 . Later the owners changed several times and in the 18th century the Counts of Collalto acquired the village.
After the abolition of patrimonial Petrovice formed a political municipality in the Třebíč district from 1850.
In April 1945, Petrovice was occupied by a department of the Wehrmacht, which suspected partisans in the place. After the martial law was imposed, Petrovice and the neighboring villages were searched and several residents were arrested. On May 6, 1945, the commander, Lieutenant Grodl, ordered the shooting of all men between the ages of 16 and 30 as an example. The mayor Padrnos and the teacher Halásek refused to allow all the men to be brought forward, and managed to get Grodl to stop shooting the 30 or so people. Instead, four boys from Petrovice, who had been sentenced to death by the court martial in Stařeč , were executed in the village on May 7th.
