The village was founded on the Lipník cadastre at the beginning of the 18th century and was first mentioned in 1716 as Neudorf . Neudorf was built on the corridors of the fortified Lhota farm, which had been extinct since 1653. The village of Lhota u Lipníka, which was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and described as desolate since 1637, was located in the place of the one-layer Dvůr Lhotka .
After patrimonial rule was replaced , the place called Ostašov, Hostašov, Hostešov, Osteschau, Neudorf or Hostaschau in the 19th century formed part of the municipality of Lipník in the Moravský Krumlov district from 1850 . South of the village, above the Panenka pond, there was another fish pond with the 8.5-hectare Jezero, which was drained in the second half of the 19th century. In 1869 189 people lived in the 29 houses in Ostašov. In 1900 the place had 176 inhabitants. In 1919 the political municipality of Ostašov was established. Since 1948 the community belongs to the Okres Třebíč. In 1961 185 people lived in the community.
