Chlum is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 14 kilometers northwest of Třebíč and belongs to the Okres Třebíč .
geography
Chlum is located in the south of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands on a knoll on the left above the valleys of the Jihlava and Chlumský potok.
Neighboring towns are Horní Smrčné and Radošov in the north, Kouty in the east, Čechtín and Červená Lhota in the southeast, Leština and Číchov in the south, Bransouze in the southwest and Panská Lhota and Dolní Smrčné in the northwest.
history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Benedictine monastery Třebíč took place in 1341. The monastery sold Chlum in 1453 together with other villages to Katharina von Čechtín. Other owners Messrs Smil of Doubravice and belonging Waldsteins to Brtnice . In 1629 the village consisted of 25 properties, three of which were desolate. In the years 1831 and 1832, nine residents died of cholera .
After the abolition of patrimonial Chlum formed a political municipality in the Třebíč district from 1850. In 1871 the Iglau-Znaim railway of the Austrian Northwest Railway was built in the corridors of the village and the Branzaus-Pirnitz / Bransouze-Brtnice railway station was built. A reservoir was built at the cemetery in 1975, which also serves as bathing water. The cultural center burned down in 1988, and a new one was inaugurated in 1993.

Attractions
- Parish Church of St. Wenceslas, the church founded by the Třebíč abbot around 1300 became Protestant during the Hussite Wars and remained the parish church until 1613. After the Battle of the White Mountain it was handed over to the Catholics and in 1785 the parish was renewed.
- Remains of Bransudy Castle, southwest of the village above the Jihlava valley. The seat of the Vladiken von Bransouzy, built in the 13th century, can be traced back to the beginning of the 15th century as a manor. It was destroyed during the Bohemian-Hungarian War.
