Dukovany (German: Dukowan , older also Tokewan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located in South Moravia, 12 km northwest of the town of Moravský Krumlov (Moravian Kromau). The place belongs to the Okres Třebíč (Trebitsch) in the Kraj Vysočina .
The place was mainly known for the nuclear power plant and the Dukovany repository . These facilities are located in the corridors of the former villages of Heřmanice , Lipňany and Skryje. The four pressurized water reactors of Russian design draw their cooling water from the Jihlava river .
