Vlčatín (German Wlczatin , also Wiltschatin , Wulschazin ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers southwest of Velké Meziříčí and belongs to the Okres Třebíč .

geography

Vlčatín is located in the valley of the Oslavička River in the Krischanauer Uplands ( Křižanovská vrchovina ) in the south of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . To the northwest rise the hills Telečkov (604 m) and Hradisko (589 m), in the east the Vlčatínský vrch (590 m) and in the west the Babí hora (606 m). The railway line from Náměšť nad Oslavou to Velké Meziříčí runs through the village .

Neighboring towns are Nový Telečkov in the north, Oslavička in the north-east, Rohy in the east, Hodov in the south-east, Rudíkov in the south, Hroznatín in the south-west, Batouchovice in the west and Bochovice in the north-west.

history

The first written mention of the village of Vlčatín, which belonged to the Okarec domain , was made in 1296 when Ondřej von Okarec's widow received the property after his death. In 1417, Vlček von Okarek owned the village, followed by Ondřej von Říčany. This sold Vlčatín to Mikuláš Něpr from Vojslavice on Pozďatín . In 1576 the owner of the Namiescht estate , Johann d. Ä. from Žerotín († 1583), the village to the estate Batouchovice . In 1790 there were 21 houses in Vlčatín, the village had 135 inhabitants.

In 1842 the in consisted Jihlava district village located Wlczatin or Wlčatjn of 26 houses, where 180 people lived. The parish and school location was Rudikau . Until the mid-19th century was Wlczatin the end connected to the Fideikommissgrafschaft Namiescht landtäflichen Good Batauchowitz servants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vlčatín formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Rudíkov in the judicial district of Great Meseritsch . From 1869 Vlčatín belonged to the Greater Meserich District . In 1881 Heinrich von Haugwitz sold the large Batauchowitz estate to Adolf Lieblich and the brothers Heinrich and Ludwig Heller from Iglau . In 1887 the village of Vlčatín was established. The local railway from Studenec to Velké Meziříčí was built between 1885 and 1886 . In 1900 the village had 215 inhabitants. During a maneuver held in the area in 1909, Emperors Franz Joseph I and Wilhelm I stayed in Wlczatin. In the 1921 census, 224 people lived in the 37 houses of the municipality, 223 of them Czechs. In the course of the territorial reform and the repeal of the Okres Velké Meziříčí, the municipality came to the Okres Třebíč on July 1, 1960 .

Attractions

  • Hradisko hill with the remains of a medieval fortification, one kilometer northwest of the village. There used to be a wooden castle on the Hradisko, which was burned down by Jan Žižka's army during the Hussite Wars . Later the cliff was used as a guard post and in legends the castle was called Kočičí hrádek ( Katzenburg ).
  • Chapel of the Assumption of Mary, built in 1910 to replace a previous building
  • Memorial stone at the place of death of the poet Jan Zahradníček , on the edge of the forest by the road from Rudíkov to Velké Meziříčí. The seriously ill Zahradníček died shortly after his release from prison on October 7, 1960 southwest of the village of an attack of suffocation.
