Mastník (German Mastnik , older also Massnik , Mastnich ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers southwest of Třebíč and belongs to the Okres Třebíč .

geography

Mastník is located in the south of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The village is located on the upper reaches of a small tributary to the Stařečský creek. To the northeast rises the Pekelný kopec (570 m nm), in the east the Kaní hora (570 m nm), south the Mikulovická hora (586 m nm), in the southwest the Horní hora (583 m nm) and to the northwest the Zadní hora (634 m) m nm). In the west and south, the Znojmo – Kolín railway passes Mastník; the nearest train station is Stařeč .

Neighboring towns are Stařeč in the north, Kracovice, Horka-Domky and Střítež in the Northeast, Slavice the east, Petrůvky and Mikulovice in the southeast, Horní Újezd and Kojetice in the south, Sádek, Vísky and Římov in the southwest, Rokytnice nad Rokytnou in the west and Veverka, Chlístov , Markvartice and Čechočovice in the north-west.

history

The first documentary mention of the village took place in 1406. Mastník belonged to the Premonstratensian monastery Neureisch as well as Bohuslav von Holoubek and Jan von Lomnitz. When in 1468 the troops of the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus besieged Třebíč and the Sádek castle in a power struggle with Georg von Podiebrad , Mastník was burned down. At the end of the 15th century Mastník became part of the Sádek domain.

After the abolition of patrimonial Mastník formed from 1850 a political municipality in the judicial district of Trebitsch. From 1868 the community belonged to the Trebitsch district. In 1869 Mastník had 262 inhabitants. In 1870 the Okříšky-Znojmo railway line of the Austrian Northwest Railway was built. In 1877 a large fire destroyed half the village. In 1900 there were 311 people living in the village. In 1913 the mining of graphite began at Mastník . The graphite mining was stopped in 1921 due to insufficient productivity of the deposit. At that time Mastník had 323 inhabitants. 1961 lived in the place 292 people. In 1980 Mastník was incorporated into Stařeč, in 1990 Mastník broke away from Stařeč and formed its own municipality. The municipality is a member of the Třebíčsko microregion.
