Neighboring towns are Babice and Lesonice in the north, Dolní Lažany and Jaroměřice in the northeast, Litohoř and Moravské Budějovice in the southwest, Dědice in the south, Komárovice in the southwest, Martínkov in the west and Cidlina in the northwest.

history

Jakubov was first mentioned around the middle of the 13th century and was then owned by the Austrian nobleman Wolfram Schenk von Schenkenberg. From this it came to a branch of the family of Moravian nobles "von Medlov " ( z Medlova ), who used the suffix "von Jakubov" ( z Jakubova ) and later, like the other family branches, the predicate "von Pernstein". This was derived from the Pernstein Castle of the same name , which is known as the family seat of the Lords of Pernstein . According to an agreement, Atluš von Pernstein and Žibřid von Jakubov transferred the rule of Jakubov to the Moravian governor Wilhelm I von Pernstein in 1398 , although the exact relationship between the contractual partners is not known.

The Jakubov fortress, documented around the middle of the 14th century, was lost either in the Hussite Wars or the Bohemian-Hungarian War. Jakubov was later owned by the Kraiger von Kraigk , who probably elevated it to a town at the end of the 16th century. It lost this status in the aftermath of the Thirty Years' War when it fell through destruction and looting. Since large parts of the inhabitants had left the destroyed place and the parish church of St. James was largely destroyed, the parish was lifted. There was an upswing only in the 19th century, when Jakubov received the status of an independent community and a school could be built. At the same time, the volunteer fire brigade was formed , which other clubs followed. In 2005 Jakubov won the “Village of the Year” competition at the district level.
