history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1190 in a document from the Klosterbruck monastery . The existence of a parish in Roketnice has been documented since 1220. During the power struggles that broke out after the death of Ottokar II Přemysl , various noble families seized the monastic property and the parish in Roketnice, so that Bishop Theoderich von Neuhaus had to enforce the return to the monastery in 1284 under threat of ban. In 1327 the village came together with Pokojovice and Březová in the course of an exchange with Načeratice to the brothers Hartlieb and Gerhard von Heraltice.

When Jan von Heraltice had the estates Heraltice , Roketnice, Pokojovice and Zašovice transferred to Filip von Lechovice in 1386 , the abbot Zacharias Roketnice, Pokojovice and the abbot forest near Heraltice with reference to a fallback clause contained in the barter agreement of 1327, in the event of gender extinction from Heraltice for the monastery. In a decision made in 1386 without knowledge of the legal situation and read out in Třebíč, the Holy See announced the return of the disputed goods to the monastery under threat of excommunication. The brothers Erhard and Jan von Heraltice refused to do so. In 1392 an agreement was finally reached. Bishop Augustine complied with a pardon and lifted the excommunication. The Heraltice brothers returned the villages of Roketnice and Pokojovice and the abbot forest to the monastery in exchange for financial compensation.

In 1663 the abbot Norbert Pleyer from Klosterbruck sold the village to the secretary of the Bohemian court chancellery Daniel Lacht von Rajov on Ronsperg . 1667 followed the Znojmo district chief Rudolf Wenzel Zawisch von Wossenitz as owner. He built his manor in the Vísky mill. In 1667 the village consisted of nine Vollhüfnern, two thirds, twelve half, three quarter and four people. Another six properties in the village lay desolate. After his death, his widow Katharina sold the village to the Sádek rule in 1695.

In 1794, 430 people lived in the 56 houses in the village. After the abolition of patrimonial Roketnice formed a political municipality in the Třebíč district from 1850. In 1870 the number of houses had increased to 97 and the number of inhabitants to 667. In 1890 the village had 726 residents. The municipality has been called Rokytnice nad Rokytnou since 1921 . On March 31, 2009, the place received the status of a Městys.
