The Rokytná , formerly Jaroměřica, is a Czech river. It rises about 10 km west of Třebíč and flows into the Jihlava (German hedgehog ) after 88.2 km at Ivančice .

course

The spring is located south of the village of Chlístova. The first stretch of the river runs in a south-easterly direction, shortly after Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou it meanders through a cut valley in an easterly direction. This section of the river forms part of the border between the Kraj Vysočina ( Highlands region ) and the Jihomoravský kraj ( South Moravian region ). Shortly before Moravský Krumlov ( Mährisch Kromau ) the course changes to the confluence with the Jihlava in a predominantly northeastern direction.

The Rokytná drains a catchment area of ​​584.3 km².

Important localities on the river

  • Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou : A small town with one of the largest baroque palaces in Europe.
  • Moravský Krumlov : The historical center lies in a loop of the Rokytná and is now an urban monument protection zone.
