Smrk (German Smrek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers east of Třebíč and belongs to the Okres Třebíč .

geography

Smrk is located on a plateau on the left side above the valley of the Mlýnský potok in the Krischanauer Uplands ( Křižanovská vrchovina ) in the south of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . To the east of the village rises the knoll Na stráži (481 m nm), in the north the Na krochotech (491 m nm). To the east are the Pozďatín ponds.

Neighboring towns are Kojatín in the north, Pozďatín in the northeast, U Nádraží and Strojatín in the east, Studenec and Jindřichův Dvůr in the southeast, Vladislav in the south, Hostákov in the west and Opatský Mlýn and Valdíkov in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Smrk took place in 1101 in the founding document of the Benedictine monastery Třebíč . Later the village came to secular owners. In 1555 Vratislav von Pernstein sold the village to Ulrich von Lomnitz auf Meseritsch and Namiest . In 1752 the Counts Haugwitz acquired the county of Namiescht .

In 1842 the village of Smrk , located on a hill in the Znojmo district , consisted of 31 houses in which 219 people lived. The parish and school location was Wladislau . Until the middle of the 19th century, Smrk remained subject to Fideikommissgrafschaft Namiescht.

After the abolition of patrimonial Smrk formed a political municipality in the judicial district of Trebitsch from 1849 . From 1869 the village belonged to the Trebitsch district. The voluntary fire brigade Smrk was founded in 1905. In 1906, 272 people lived in the 44 houses of the village. In the 1921 census, 269 people, including 268 Czechs, lived in the 45 houses in the municipality. In 1964 Kojatín was incorporated and the village became independent in 1990.

Attractions

  • Chapel Herz Mariä, built in 1850. In 1903 roof repairs were made and the tower was renewed. A renovation took place between 1997 and 1999, for which Pope John Paul II consecrated the foundation stone during his visit to Prague in 1997.
